The short answer is nothing. We gained no ground and in fact may have lost much ground fighting this civil war of sorts. It's a bit deceptive because it's not a conventional War and there are no bombed out buildings like in Aleppo, or Gaza, or Baghdad. There are no jet fighters overhead, and there are no submarines under the water. No tanks, no fox holes, no land mines. Not really a war in the conventional sense as there is no Battlefield theater to be seen or to be had in this war. Unlike most wars, this war is being fought for an obscene price and an unseen prize. These soldiers were neither drafted nor trained, but rather born into this war.
